Applications
Organizations have focused upon virtual servers as a method for reducing costs and increasing simplicity through server consolidation and hardware independence. Virtualization is also becoming a key component to disaster recovery strategies. Containing server sprawl through virtualization allows organizations to maximize resources and minimize the hardware footprint. Virtualization can be used to reduce physical servers ten-fold with no performance impact to your end users. LTI’s appliances can accelerate application access and data transfer rates by up to 100x. Bandwidth and geography constraints disappear, and servers can be consolidated without the end users even knowing that data and applications have been moved miles away. Organizations are leveraging virtualization technologies like VMware and Citrix to accelerate their disaster recover processes while simultaneously cutting costs. In the event of a failure, single servers no longer need to be rebuilt, as virtual machine images can be replicated to remote DR sites. Hardware independence is also gained as replicas of hardware platforms need not be maintained at the DR sites. By minimizing the time needed to migrate virtual machine images, LTI can assist companies with faster recoveries and reduce the downtime in the event of an outage.
In an increasingly virtualized world, LTI DataComm extends an offering to increase flexibility. By leveraging existing virtual IT infrastructure in the Datacenter, now WAN Optimization can be deployed as a “virtual appliance”. The virtual appliance can leverage existing deployed hardware platforms, existing SAN and/or NAS storage, existing management and configuration tools and is easy to deploy using standard virtualization tools. It has built in support for VMmotion maintenance and its high availability failover keeps a complete warm cache, a virtual accelerator can be moved from one server to another without losing the warm cache. Servers can be repurposed to host your virtual accelerator. The virtual accelerator is perfect for mobile platforms, such as airplanes, oil rigs, maritime vehicles, and hardened servers approved for military and civilian use.
It can deploy on your hardware platform of choice, and multiple virtual accelerators can reside on one physical server, or multiple virtuals with multiple physicals to achieve unlimited scalability. Let us help you increase your resourcefulness and versatility by leveraging our virtualization platforms.
Consolidation and virtualization are hot trends in IT, helping organization boost their flexibility and efficiency to delivering important services, all while reducing costs. Our WAN accelerators have one other discrete virtualization capability; a platform that provides customers with the facility to run additional services and applications virtually on VMware in a protected partition on the WAN accelerator itself. This revolutionary approach allows customers to deploy local services in all their branch offices without the need to deploy and maintain complete servers to run these applications. The business benefits are minimizing the hardware requirements at the branch office, which enables companies to consolidate their infrastructure even further, reducing costs, and simplifying administration, all while still delivering essential local services.
Organizations have widely implemented IT infrastructure consolidation measures to reap many of the well-known benefits: simplified management, lower costs, and improved data protection and resource utilization. Despite these efforts, there are still services that must be delivered locally. Local print, DNS, and DHCP are good examples of these types of "edge" services that defy many central consolidation efforts. The virtualization platform we offer allows organizations to run these services, as well as Microsoft Windows Server, streaming media, monitoring, and security services on the WAN accelerators, so organizations can eliminate these now superfluous servers to further reduce hardware, software, and maintenance costs and IT complexity.
The virtualization platform is uniquely suited to branch office server consolidation and virtualization. First, the “Virtual-Server” capabilities in the appliance is the only wide area network (WAN) accelerator to run industry-leading technology from VMware as the virtualization platform, leveraging the resources most organizations already have in house. Virtual servers run in a protected zone and do not impact the resources necessary for peak appliance operations. It also enables customers to run up to five different virtual machines simultaneously, eliminating more servers from the branch office. And, it runs on most of our offered models, enabling customers to benefit without having to replace their previous WAN optimization investments.
